Tags And Topics

Topics and tags are both useful, but they solve different problems.

Topics vs tags

  • Topics: primary grouping for prompt organization.
  • Tags: flexible labels for slicing data across multiple dimensions.
Use topics for your main strategic clusters:
  • brand-comparison
  • category-education
  • solution-evaluation
Use tags for cross-cutting filters:
  • funnel stage (awareness, consideration, decision)
  • audience (cmo, growth, seo)
  • initiative (launch-q2, geo, enterprise)

Setup process

  1. Define 3 to 6 topics first.
  2. Add a small controlled tag vocabulary.
  3. Apply tags consistently across active prompts.
  4. Review unused tags monthly.

Hygiene rules

  • Keep names short and unambiguous.
  • Avoid overlapping tags that mean the same thing.
  • Archive tags not used in current reporting cycles.
