Set Up Prompts

Prompts are the foundation of Texta. If the prompt set is weak, every downstream metric becomes noisy.

Prompt principles

  • Write prompts as natural questions users ask AI tools.
  • Track intent, not isolated keywords.
  • Keep wording stable when measuring trends over time.

Prompt lifecycle in Texta

  • Active: included in tracking and dashboards.
  • Suggested: generated recommendations you can accept.
  • Inactive: archived prompts that no longer run.

How to create prompts

Option 1: Add manually

  1. Open Prompts.
  2. Click Add Prompt.
  3. Enter question text and optional topic.
  4. Save as active.

Option 2: Use suggested prompts

  1. Open Prompts → Suggested.
  2. Review suggested items by topic.
  3. Accept only prompts that match your positioning.

What makes a strong prompt

  • Includes a clear use case.
  • Targets a specific buyer context.
  • Avoids brand-stuffing and forced phrasing.
Examples:
  • “What is the best AI visibility tool for SaaS marketing teams?”
  • “How can I improve brand mentions in ChatGPT and Gemini?”
  • “Which tools track competitor visibility in AI answers?”

Topic strategy

  • Create topics before scaling prompt volume.
  • Keep topic names business-readable.
  • Use one primary topic per prompt when possible.

Prompt maintenance checklist

  • Weekly: add new prompt ideas from GTM conversations.
  • Monthly: archive stale prompts with no strategic value.
  • Quarterly: rebalance by funnel stage and product focus.

Common mistakes

  • Too many near-duplicate prompts.
  • Prompts that are too broad to benchmark.
  • Constant wording changes that break trend continuity.
