Set Up Brands

Brands define who appears in your benchmark set.

Why brand setup matters

  • It controls what counts as a mention.
  • It determines competitor comparisons in ranking and actions.
  • It affects source gap analysis and opportunity scoring.

Add your brand set

  1. Open Project → Brands.
  2. Confirm your own brand is enabled.
  3. Add direct competitors.
  4. Review suggested brands and accept only relevant ones.

Naming rules

  • Use the canonical brand name.
  • Avoid extra geography qualifiers unless needed.
  • Add aliases for well-known abbreviations or spelling variants.

Suggested brand workflow

  • Accept when the brand is truly in your competitive set.
  • Reject when detection is noisy or irrelevant.
  • Re-run review weekly during the first month.

Quality checks

  • Remove duplicates.
  • Validate aliases are not too broad.
  • Confirm your own brand is not merged with another entity.

Best-practice competitor count

Start with 3 to 8 strong competitors. Expand later when your process is stable.
